Bogong Moths (Agrotis infusa) have made a welcome and spectacular swarming return to our Australian spring skies. They’ve been largely absent since the 1980s, landing on the IUCN endangered list.
But in the last week they’ve made a massive comeback, a welcome if uninvited guest on native trees as well as homes, cars and just about everywhere else. This one was circling (with dozens of mates) around my porch light.
